Pedestrian is hospitalised after being hit by vehicle on busy route near Ashby

A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle on the A511 near Ashby de la Zouch.
The incident happened on Thursday afternoon (April 3) and is believed to have involved a horse box.
Police closed off the road as a result following a report about the collision shortly before 3pm.
However, although the pedestrian was hospitalised, the injuries were not said to be life-threatening.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police told Ashby Nub News: "We received a call at 2.53pm yesterday (Thursday 3 April) regarding a road traffic collision on the A511 at Boundary.

"It involved a pedestrian and a vehicle. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with injuries not described as life threatening.
"No arrests were made and the road was reopened later that day."
But the incident coincided with Ashby Police voicing people's concerns about speeding traffic on the A511.
Police said on an emailed Neighbourhood Link post: "You said that there is an issue with vehicles driving at excessive speeds in and around Ashby, especially down the A511 Bypass.
"The Ashby Beat Team have given this issue their prompt attention and conducted an operation to monitor the speed of vehicles on the A511 Bypass between Smisby Road and Loverose Way (the new road linking the A511 with the planned Money Hill housing estate).

"A total of 260 vehicles were checked and six were found to be travelling above the prescribed 40mph limit.
"We would encourage the six offending drivers to make conscious choices on the road and prioritise their safety and the safety of other road users and pedestrians. Please slow down and save lives. Speed limits are there for a reason.
"Action will be taken against those who exceeded the speed limit and the results fed back to the Force Road Safety Unit.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the 254 drivers who adhered to the speed limit. Remember, a fast drive could be your last drive."
