Grant Jones, 33, from Pegg's Close, Measham, was charged for criminal damage, threatening behaviour, racially aggravated harassment and assault following taking an 'significant amount of crack cocaine' at 6am.

Appearing at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Monday 7th July, the court heard that Jones had taken 'an excessive amount of crack cocaine' at 6am and went on a crime spree of which he now has no memory of.

He started by smashing his neighbours' two cars with a brick, before threatening to smash one of his neighbour's heads in.

When Leicestershire Police arrived, he spat on an officer and made multiple threats to kill one of them.

Officers decided to take Jones to hospital and on route he asked officers to pull over outside a Londis to 'sort out' some people that he described using a racist word.

Once outside the hospital, while still in the van with officers, Jones shouted racist terms at two Asian men who walked past. He then went on to homophobically and racially abuse multiple people in the hospital, including the doctor treating him.

When he was escorted back to the Police station, Jones then urinated and spat in a cell and told an officer: 'I'm going to break you neck and kill you.'

Jones already had 44 previous offences on his record and had already pleaded guilty to nine charges: three counts of criminal damage, three of threatening behaviour, two of racially aggravated harassment; and one of assault by beating an emergency worker.

He was given a 21-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. The magistrate commented that, although his crimes were over the line for custody, they will not be sending Jones to prison as he expressed remorse and the court felt there was a 'realistic prospect of rehabilitation.'
