Main route from Moira to Ashby de la Zouch will be closed off to traffic this weekend

A MAIN route from Moira towards Ashby is to be closed this weekend for road works to take place.

The closures will take place from Friday (October 25) for three days between 7am and 6pm.

Leicestershire County Council Highways has agreed to the works on Ashby Road between Rawdon Road and Daybell Road roundabout.

The county council says: "The Temporary Traffic Regulation Order will be implemented for public safety for Leicestershire County Council to facilitate pre-surface dressing patching.

"A road closure and prohibition of waiting and loading is required on the 25th October 2024 for three days. Closures will be in place daily between 07:00 and 18:00.

"There will be restricted access to Station Drive, Briton Lodge Close and Newfields whilst works take place."

The proposed alternative diversion route will be via: Moira Road, Kilwardby Street, Market Street, Wood Street, Nottingham Road, A511, A42 J13-12, Measham Road, Ashby; Ashby Road, New Street, Measham; Measham Road, Oakthorpe; Moira Road, Donisthorpe; Measham Road, Moira; and vice versa.
