An Ashby-based childcare and activity provider has raised £15,774 to build a school for children suffering poverty in Central America.

ClubsComplete's project is due to go ahead at the end of October, beginning the build of the school in Guatemala.

The cost of living crisis, and the Covid pandemic, meant that fundraising was made more difficult, so the team say they are especially proud of their achievements.

A few of ClubsComplete's dedicated staff and spouses are flying out to help start the worl along with the tradespeople and the community on site.

Director, Kerry Goodacre, said: "We are extremely proud of the amount of funds raised and the difference that this school will make to the children and their families in this community."

Kerry and co-director Stacey have always been passionate and determined to help build schools across Third World countries - and to support communities which enable their children to get the education that exists in the UK.

Both continue to support the Build On charity - which aims to break the cycle of poverty and illiteracy - by raising money, donating company profits and organising fundraisers.

So far, Buildon has built 234 schools, which has enabled 12,168 children to attend classes.

Without these schools being built, children in these Third World countries would either not attend school or have to walk up to two hours per day just to get there.

Of those schools that do exist, they lack adequate classrooms where children learn in huts or under trees in the best cases.

Supporting and building schools for these children to give them the best start in their lives is an achievement ClubsComplete says it has dreamt of.

Kayley Williams, Ashley Goodacre, Justyna Boczek and Joshua Wills are travelling to Guatemala to make this dream a reality.
