Staff at Fishers marked Pride month with a colourful and informative celebration at the law firm's Ivanhoe Office Park base.

Not only were they encouraged to come to work dressed in bright clothes, they were also given some background to the Pride movement and why it has proved so important in recent years.

The day was organised by Kristin Clark, who is Fishers' HR and Office Manager - a role where it is important to promote equality and diversity.

Kristin said: "We've been celebrating Pride all month, but we had a special day last week where everyone at Fishers was involved.

"Everybody was given their own Pride flag, and asked them to identify it. This helped people to learn about the various flags within the LGBTQ+ community and become more informed about the Pride movement.

"There are different flags that relate to gender and sexuality so by doing that, staff were able to do a little bit of research, and it added some fun and information to the day."

Kristin said Fishers staff made a great effort to ensure the day was a success.

She added: "On Pride day, everybody came to work in bright accessories, brightly coloured clothes, with flags, balloons and we had some cakes.

"But in the breakout area at our offices, we had a lot of information about why Pride happened, where it came from, the raids in New York in the 70s. We also had some fact sheets out for the team to read.

"That said things such as, where it's still unacceptable in the world to be gay, appropriate language and significant areas in the UK such as Brighton.

"Not only was it fun for the staff, but there was a lot of background information in there, which is exactly what I wanted to create as it makes equality training, more engaging, and people learn more when they're enjoying it."
