Bloor Homes and Taylor Wimpey has submitted a revised application to construct a 150-space car park as part of the new Money Hill development.

Plans have been put in to North West Leicestershire District Council for the parking area.

With previous requests for more town centre parking rejected by the district council, this is seen as a way of creating more capacity.

However, there have been disputes on whether footpath access through to North Street is to be part of that development.

The plans have been drawn up by Bloor Homes, but Taylor Wimpey will also be building homes on the site and has said it is prepared to contribute around £120,000 to improving pathways around the new housing development.

A path is clearly marked on the latest plans submitted to the district council.

They also say that the car park design has been updated following feedback from engineers.

It adds that a pay station location has been removed following feedback from North West Leicestershire District Council.

The plans make it clear that there will be room for 150 vehicles, but does not indicate exactly where its position will be.

The validated application is for the 'construction of car park and internal access roads and formation of public open spaces'.

Taylor Wimpey has already announced the name of its planned new 300-plus home development.

The homebuilder is inviting interested buyer to register their interest in the new Castle Manor estate, with a launch planned for later this year.
