The use of e-scooters in Ashby Town Centre and tackling anti-social driving in Tesco car park are among next year's town police beat priorities.

Ashby Police have issued their targets for January through to March.

The use of e-scooters in the town is proving to be a problem yet again.

Ashby Police say: "Whilst it is legal to buy an E-scooter it is illegal to ride it on a UK public road, cycle lane or pavement.

"The only place an E Scooter can be used is on private land.

"We aim to educate e-scooter owners and the wider population with regard to their illegal use and its consequences.

"This could include the risk of the scooter being seized under Sec 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002

"We will support local residents who have voiced their concerns over such activity.

"Regular updates to community should generate further reassurance."

Officers say they will also re-focus their attention on Tesco car park.

They added: "We aim to clamp down on Anti-Social driving in Tesco car park, particularly in the evenings.

"We can issue warnings and seizure notices under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 - and liaise closely with Tesco management, adopting a joint approach to solving the problem."

Police will also stage a road safety initiative in Packington village.

The aim is to promote road safety throughout the village and take positive and proportionate action against those committing Road Traffic Offences

The Police added: "Local communities have raised speeding vehicles as a primary concern and offences are being committed where camera van deployment is not possible."
