A tree has fallen across Prior Park Road in Ashby, completing blocking it.

Any access to the Prior Park retirement estate, in or out, on Sunday morning was not possible.

And it is understood that tree feel down this morning while carers were inside the estate.

They could not get out and other carers with meals could not enter.

Local residents were seen trying to dismantle the fallen tree so that some form of access could be made available.

Officials from North West Leicestershire District Council were also believed to be at the scene.

What a difference a day makes!

After two days of sunny weather and warm temperatures, things changed overnight.

And it seems as though the morning winds brought the tree crashing to the ground.

The incident was reported by Rich Waldrum on the New Photos of Ashby de la Zouch Facebook page.

The Met Office report said windy weather was expected, with temperates turning colder from the north.

On Sunday, the forecast was for isolated showers but windy and colder than of late.

Tonight, cloud and patchy rain over southern and central England should clear to leave clear periods. But windy condition are forecast again.
