Eighties chart topper Paul Young is returning to the Ashby area next month with his Los Pacaminos Tex-Mex band.

The group will be playing at gig at Conkers on Friday, September 24 and tickets are on sale now.

Conkers promises a fun-filled night of outdoor live Tex-Mex music from the Stetson wearing seven-piece band featuring Young, Drew Barfield, Mark Pinder, Steve Greetham, Jamie Moses, Steve 'Woody' Oakman and Melvin Duffy (UK's premier pedal steel player).

Young has a string of hits in the 80s, including Every Time You Go Away, Love of the Common People and Wherever I Lay My Hat,

One of the UK's most popular Live touring bands, Los Pacaminos play the very best in Tex Mex Border music from The Texas Tornadoes and Ry Cooder to Los Lobos and even Roy Orbsion.

Conkers says it will be a Tequila fuelled Tex Mex party night, as it becomes the perfect cantina setting for a great night's rocking with the cactus sharp, tequila filled, stetson wearing, magnificent seven, Los Pacaminos!

The Los Pacaminos website says the band was formed in mid-1992, when the Young found himself with some down-time and phoned a few musician friends with the intent of starting a Tex-Mex band.

Fully expecting that the band would fall apart when something more important came along, instead the band played better and the friendship got tighter with each show.

The hats and the band name were there mainly to make it as clear as possible that it wasn't a Paul Young show: yet as they started writing their own songs it became more and more obvious that this wasn't going to be a short-term project.

Los Pacaminos are now past their 25th year and show no signs of stopping.

With an unmatched live reputation, two acclaimed studio albums and two live albums under their belts they continue to explore the music of the Southwest.
