Donisthorpe held an afternoon tea party for the village's senior citizens over the Jubilee weekend.

The event was for all pensioners living in Donisthorpe.

.The Halfway House pub and Donisthorpe Community Group worked together again to put on an impressive event to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Donisthorpe resident Peter Gale said: "We also had entertainment by The Boogaloo Babes, a trio of harmony, they were fantastic."

The event came after the success of the Donisthorpe Family Field Day held on the Bank Holiday Friday.

That drew in a large crowd and featured a flypast by a Lancaster Bomber shortly after 1pm.

That was made even more special as the planned flypast over Ashby's Jubilee Street Party last Sunday was cancelled due to bad weather,

Peter added: "We had a great turnout for the Family Field Day, better than we anticipated, and the weather helped.

"The Lancaster was brilliant, I have seen it a few times but that was the best."
