Donisthorpe Community Group held a litter picking session in the village yesterday (Sunday) - and collected 31 bags of rubbish.

The group met at the Halfway House pub at 9am to be armed with a litter picker, bag and a suggestion of where to look for rubbish.

After two to three hours walking around the area, 31 bags of rubbish, a tent and a chair were found.

The Donisthorpe group contains three 'bugs' - people dressed up into to promote the activity and make it more fun for the local children.

Organisers say the waste is now in one area and North West Leicestershire District Council will be informed so as it can collect the rubbish this week.
