A new pop-up village shop is opening in Blackfordby on Tuesday - from a converted horse box.
It is being set up by Sarah Byrd whose local, family-run, business will be offering the service, selling essential items.
After discussions with North West Leicestershire District Council, the shop plans to run from the Village Hall car park, starting at 8am on April 14.
And Sarah told Ashby Nub News about the thinking behind it.
She said: "There's no shop in Blackfordby and there are a lot of elderly and vulnerable people there.
"My parents live in Blackfordby opposite the village hall.
"We have a converted horse box trailer which was intended to be used as a bar for people to hire out.
"But it's currently sat on the drive doing nothing.
"And I had an idea in my head one day about selling essential items from it.
"But I wasn't quite sure how it would work. But then my sister had the same idea.
"And it went from there. We contacted the council and it's really taken off.
"You've probably seen from the comments on the Blackfordby Community Group site, people are really interested in the idea.
"How often we do it will depend on what sort of interest we get.
"We'll start on Tuesday and look to do it probably a couple of times a week at least, and maybe do one evening for people who are still at work during the day. But who knows, if the demand's there we'll do it for as many days as we need to."
Sarah says not all the people in the village can get to the nearest shops in the area.
She added: "People don't always want to to queue at the supermarket.
"To start with, we'll use a local cash and carry, but we are looking into other local sources such as farm shops. To do it locally would be my preference."
The pop-up plans to stock most essential items and use a generator, noise levels permitting, to refrigerate things like milk and butter.
But anyone wanting to place an order in advance to collect on the day please can phone 07812 367765.
Also, the organisers say:- It will be card only to reduce handling of cash
- Items are subject to availability
- Please bring your own bags where possible
- Let them know of any items you would like to see if they do not have them and they will endeavour to stock them
