Coach fire closes southbound carriageway of the A42 near Ashby - three crews called out to incident

All lanes were closed on the A42 due to a coach fire on the westbound carriageway near Ashby today (Monday).
Three fire crews were called out to the incident which happened at around 3.30pm.
The route had been closed between Junction 14 at Tonge and Junction 13 at Flagstaff Island.
But the emergency services later said that all occupants of the coach had been accounted for.
Crews from Castle Donington, and Swadlincote and a Water Carrier from Loughborough are all at the scene.
The alarm was raised at 3.50pm with calls reporting that a coach was on fire on the A42 southbound.
Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Upon arrival it was confirmed by crews, one coach well alight in the first lane.
"All lanes closed."
Highways England has tweeted: "The #A42 in #Leicestershire is closed southbound between the #M1 and the #A511 (#AshbyDeLaZouch) due to a coach fire.
@LeicsFireRescue are on scene and dealing. More details to follow."
Leicestershire Police gave an update on social media at 4.15pm which read: "TRAFFIC INCIDENT - A42 SOUTH at ASHBY DE LA ZOUCH.
"Please note that there is currently a road closure on the A42 Southbound at Ashby due to a vehicle fire.
"We hope to have the road open soon. In the meantime please avoid the area. Thank you."
HIghways England later said: "Fire crews have extinguished the fire and have left the scene.
"The coach has been recovered and carriageway clean up is underway."

Leicestershire Fire & Rescue said this evening that all occupants of the coach had. been accounted for.
A statement said: "All persons are accounted for.
"Fire Service have blocked both carriageways on the A42.
"Highways are also in attendance.
"Breathing Apparatus still in use, Hose Reel jets and short extension ladder in use.
"Breathing apparatus now working inside coach damping down and Hose Reel jets still in use.
"Fire extinguished and damping down in progress.
"Grass verge is being damped down due to close proximity of fire.
"Vehicle recovery is in attendance. Fire Crews are currently liaising with Police and Highways."
