This is what Ashby's planned new Lounge Bar could look like if plans to open in Market Street go ahead later this year.

The Bristol-based company Loungers wants to be up and running in the former HSBC Bank building before Christmas.

Currently, the plan is to be open at some point in November - although an exact date has yet to be announced.

Planning permission still has to be obtained for the move, although a recent licensing application has already been backed by Ashby de la Zouch Town Council.

At a committee meeting earlier this month, Town Centre Manager, Stuart Benson, told councillors: "Loungers' venues are attractive and popular, and it should help increase visitors to the town as well as changing the dynamic.

"It will give a better balance and variety to the public. It will provide local jobs and prospects.

"The demographic attracts 40-plus and gives a wider choice of eateries in the town and reduces our vacancy rates.

"It will boost both the day and night time economies and helps with the Purple Flag accreditation."

Loungers have released a series of photos - as shown here - to illustrate some of their other bars across the UK.

The company says the Ashby bar will have a similar look when it opens.
