The seasonal change in opening hours for Ashby's Lount recycling and household waste site will come into effect next week.

From Saturday, October 1, to March 31, Autumn and Winter opening times will apply, with all Leicestershire County Council waste site opening times changing to 9am to 4pm, on the days they are open.

Last entry will be at 3.55pm.

The at Lount, near Ashby, is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and the Coalville site is closed on Thursdays and Fridays.

Shepshed is closed Sunday to Wednesday.

Councillor Blake Pain, cabinet member for the environment and the green agenda, said: "We reduce the opening hours at our recycling and household waste sites every year from October to March.

"This means we can keep the sites open for extended hours during the summer months when there is higher demand for using our waste sites."
