Ashby town centre pub plays its part in working with police to stop knife crime
The Lamb in Ashby played its part in Operation Sceptre on Saturday night.
Officers from the Dedicated Neighbourhood Team at Coalville were at the Market Street pub with the knife arch as part of the scheme.
This is also to help promote Ashby as a safe place for the nighttime trade, as well as positive policing in the town.
North West Leicestershire Police posted about their visit to Ashby on social media.
PC Russ Leech said: "We took the knife arch to The Lamb on Market Street, Ashby as well as Manhattan's where we worked alongside their own security teams.
"This has been done as part of the national week of action against knife crime and to help people feel confident in being able to enjoy their night out safely.
"We are glad to report no weapons were found on anyone and the arch was well received by people who were out in town."
Police and Crime Commissioner Rupert Matthews said earlier this year: "Every knife confiscated is one less lethal weapon on our streets.
"The results have been impressive – well done to everyone involved - but I want to reassure people that the work to tackle knife crime takes place every day of every week.
"One victim is one too many. That's why I remain committed to the prevention of crime. By preventing crime, we have fewer victims, fewer people in the criminal justice system and less demand on public services.
"That's why my own team, the force and our partners are working hard to address the scourge of knife crime in our communities in line with my Police and Crime priorities. The fact that the latest figures show a reduction in violence with injury is no coincidence."
