Ashby School and Ivanhoe School, both part of the LiFE Multi Academy Trust and both in Ashby de la Zouch, have reported improved GCSE results following the completion of the age-range change that now enables both schools to educate pupils from ages 11 to 16.

Three years on from the age-range change that allows pupils to remain at their respective schools throughout their secondary education until GCSEs, both schools have said this summer's GCSE results showed year-on-year improvement compared with 2025.

Ashby School continues to operate a sixth form, providing progression opportunities for students from both schools.

According to the schools, GCSE outcomes in English and Mathematics were above national averages for pupils achieving grades 4 and 5 (C grade).

They also report a number of high individual achievements, with students across both schools achieving multiple top grades, including grade 8s and 9s (A* grade).

Dr Jude Mellor, Headteacher of Ashby School, said: "These are really important benchmarks for students as they allow them to progress to a range of Level 3 courses in Year 12 and will also support their future career prospects.

"We also saw some amazing individual achievements with students gaining huge numbers of top grades, including students at both schools who achieved all grade 8s and 9s. We are really proud of all they have achieved."

She added: "Backed by these great outcomes, we were delighted to welcome 140 students from both Ashby Schools into Ashby Sixth Form. It is a real privilege to be able to provide such positive next step opportunities and we are excited to see the achievements these students gain over the next 2 years.
