Ashby Police responded to complaints from local residents about vehicles breaking the speed limit on Burton Road.

They set up a speed gun on the side of the road on Sunday afternoon and found a number of drivers doing well over 30mph.

The police explained what happened on their Facebook page on Monday.

Their post reads: "Following complaints from residents regarding speeding vehicles on Burton Road, the Ashby beat team set up with the speed gun yesterday.

'In all, 44 vehicles were scanned within the hour, the majority of which adhered to the speed limit... unfortunately a few didn't, and were reported for speeding offences.

"Some others who were slightly over were given some words of advice.

"Please don't take chances with your speed, it's 30 for a reason."
