Specsavers in Ashby is supporting a local food bank with a significant donation just in time for Christmas.

The store has committed to donating £1 from each eye test carried out between now and Monday, December 13.

It hopes to raise money which will directly benefit local families and make a real difference in the community during the festive season.

The donation will be sent directly to the Trussell Trust which manages the local food bank.

Having witnessed first-hand the hardships faced by local communities this year, Specsavers Ashby says it strongly about helping.

Kuljinder Bains, Specsavers Ashby de la Zouch store director, says: "Our local communities are continuing to recover from the impact of the pandemic, and many are still finding life very difficult.

"We see people from our nearby communities every day in our store and hear their stories – so we feel very strongly about doing our bit to support them.

"Funds raised for the food bank near to our store will mean much needed grocery supplies can be bought to give directly to families in need in our communities, helping them to get through the festivities and school holidays with plenty to eat."
