By Graham Hill 11th Nov 2021

An Ashby man has been honoured by the Royal Lifesaving Society.

Tom Bennett received the Royal Lifesaving Society Service Medal last Saturday (Nov 6).

This is awarded to those who have voluntarily given 12 or more years service, supporting the Royal Lifesaving Society.

Tom has volunteered his lifeguarding skills for a number of charity swims and youth sports events - and has also volunteered his time to local schools and nurseries to provide free educational sessions in drowning prevention and First Aid.

Tom is well known locally as a lifeguard and trainer assessor, and recently also qualified as a Lifeguard Trainer Mentor.

He is also Director of Training at Moira-based Elite Training Solutions, which is part of the Moira Replan scheme.
