Ashby Kids Club has been given a glowing Ofsted report - saying 'Parents cannot praise it highly enough'.

The club is based at Ashby Hill Top Primary School and had its first visit from inspectors since forming two and a half years ago.

The report says that children 'thoroughly enjoy themselves' and 'Children are secure, knowing that staff pay close attention to their wishes and feelings. Children confidently talk with visitors and happily share their positive thoughts about the club.'

It adds: "Children are keen for visitors to understand how kind and friendly the staff team are. They have plenty of opportunities to extend their ideas and lead their play. They benefit from spending much time outdoors.

"The children demonstrate kindness and compassion to each other.

"Older children are exceptionally keen to support their younger peers. They help them at tea time by serving their sandwiches and encouraging them to try the vegetables on offer.

"As parents arrive, children are reluctant to go home without finishing their game.

"Staff listen carefully to children's voices in order to provide opportunities that spark their interest and fascination. Children become deeply involved and focused on their play.

This contributes positively to their feelings of well-being. Children confidently share the club values with visitors. They understand how the values help to keep everybody safe.

Staff consistently and respectfully support children to make the right choices. As a result of this, children understand right from wrong. Children's behaviour is exemplary across the setting."

The report says the feedback from parents has also been important.

It adds: "Staff take every opportunity to celebrate and praise children's individuality and achievements. They consistently focus on positive aspects of their play and interaction.

"As a result of this, children are eager to please and they respond positively to staff. Parents cannot praise the club highly enough.

"They are delighted with the range of activities, games and experiences that children engage in. Parents state that their children are happy to arrive and less happy to go home. They view this as a positive.

"Children make friends and have the opportunity to socialise with others outside of their year group. Parents particularly like the family atmosphere and the nurturing, friendly staff team."
