Ashby Ivanhoe kept up their Midland League title challenge on Saturday after beating Coton Green.

The 1-0 win - thanks to Will Robson's second half header - puts Ashby two points behind leaders Dudley Town and a point behind Bilston Town in second spot.

Ivanhoe host Bilston this Saturday and are looking to attract a big crowd to the NFU ground as Ashby look to maintain their strong start to the season.

Their perseverance paid off at Tamworth-based Coton Green as Ivanhoe stayed in third spot.

The first half was tight with few chances until just before the break when Ash Garner's free header flew over the bar - and Chris Acott's effort went narrowly wide of the post.

The second half was more of the same, until Will Groocock pulled the ball back to Sam Grouse whose shot was wide of the target - with Grouse acknowledging that he could have squared to a free Josh Thomas at the far post.

Ivanhoe kept pushing and the breakthrough came from a superbly directed Robson header into the far corner of the goal from a great cross from Grouse.

Ashby saw the game out well to seal the result.
