Ashby Hastings Cricket Club gets green light to make improvements to Bath Grounds-based pavilion

Ashby Hastings Cricket Club has been given the go-ahead to make improvements to its pavilion building at the Bath Grounds.
An amended planning application for work to be carried out, was submitted to North West Leicestershire District Council at the end of January.
The cricket club's proposal was for the demolition of an external store, the removal of temporary buildings, construction of two single-storey extensions, insertion of entrance doors to the principal elevation and changes to materials to provide for external cladding to the building.
A design and access statement accompanying the application said: "The planning application is for an extension of leisure facilities to provide improved changing rooms for cricketers and umpires, accessible wc and improved wc facilities.
"The application site is located at the southeast corner of Bath Grounds and extends to 465 Sq metres. Access to the site for pedestrians and vehicles is from Station Road.
"No further access points, either vehicular or pedestrian, are proposed.
"A ramp is proposed at the main entrance for wheelchair access. The clubhouse is located on a relatively level site and there are no adjacent buildings.
"The existing single-storey clubhouse is of timber-framed construction with a felt-covered, gently sloping, roof and timber framed windows.
"To the rear of the clubhouse there are two single storey additions which are currently used as changing rooms and a kitchen.
"There is a detached external store to the rear that has concrete blockwork walls which is to be removed, also a portable/temporary building used as a store, which will also be removed."
A council officer's report, permitting the application, added: "It is considered that, given the small scale nature of the proposals and changes to the external materials of the building, that the proposals would not be harmful to the character or appearance of the Conservation Area. In view of the above, it is considered that the character and appearance of the Conservation Area would be preserved.
"The proposals would not have any impact on the existing parking provision in the car park. It is therefore considered that the proposal is acceptable in terms of highways matters."
