An Ashby fire crew was called out to a nightclub fire in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

Two people have been arrested after a fire at Echo;s nightclub in Loughborough.

Police were called to Biggin Street just after 1.20am this morning (Tuesday 1 November) after two men were spotted in the area acting suspiciously.

Officers attended and quickly identified a fire inside the nightclub and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service was called.

As well as the Ashby firefighters, crews from Loughborough, Birstall and Shepshed were also on the ecene.

No one was injured during the incident.

Detectives are now investigating and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area during the early hours of this morning.

Businesses are also being asked to check CCTV to see if they have captured anything that may be of use to the investigation.

Two men aged 40 and 44 have been arrested on suspicion of arson and burglary.

The 44-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs.

They are both currently in police custody.

A scene preservation remains in place while police and the fire service carry out further enquiries.
