Ashby Christmas Market returns this weekend with two days of fun and entertainment promised in a festive town centre.

The event is being run for the first time by Ashby Business Improvement District with support from Ashby de la Zouch Town Council.

And visitors have already been told it is set to the 'most spectacular' event - which has been titled as the Magic of Christmas, which could attract around 5,000 people on each day.

A timetable of events is below - so decide when to come down and what you want to see.

Town Centre manager, Stuart Benson, said that while there have been some changes to the event this year, the market is largely the same with plenty of stalls selling Christmas food and gifts.

He added: "On Sunday, we will also have the Santa Fun Run and Walk on the Bath Grounds, which is always a great sight with people coming back into the town afterwards.

"What we want to do is have people come along on Saturday, then have something to come back for on the Sunday.

"But it's the businesses of Ashby that are putting this on.

"We think there's going to be a bit more variety.

"What's new is the land train which will be offering rides along Brook Street during the weekend.

"There'll also be snow cannons on both days. That's why we've themed it as the Magic of Christmas.

"But we would also urge people to go and look in Rushton's Yard as well - that's also part of the Christmas Market.

"We've also sponsored the fancy dress competition in the Santa Fun Run and Walk. It should be a lovely event."

Ashby BID have given a taste of what to expect and said: "Step right up to the Ashby Christmas Market, where winter wonders come to life!

"Experience the magic of snow machines transforming the surroundings into a winter paradise.

"With over 60 stalls offering delightful gifts, scrumptious food, and thirst-quenching drinks, your taste buds and shopping cravings won't be disappointed.

"But it doesn't stop there! Prepare to be entertained by sensational live acts that will leave you in awe.

"Schools and clubs will also be showcasing their extraordinary talents throughout the weekend.
