Local businesses in Ashby are signing up to two free schemes to help high streets recover from the pandemic.

The two schemes, which are led by North West Leicestershire District Council, are being trialled free of charge to businesses for 12 months using the government's Welcome Back Fund.

Through a partnership with ShopAppy.com, local businesses in Ashby will be able to expand their online presence through a digital version of their local high streets which will allow them to offer their goods and services to local residents.

Customers can use the digital high streets to find and support their local shops in each town, and allow them to browse their services, book appointments and buy products online.

A district-wide loyalty card scheme in partnership with Reward-It is also being rolled out, allowing each participating business to manage and tailor their own individual loyalty scheme.

Customers will be able to collect points on purchases and redeem them for rewards at that shop, using either a smartphone app or their own free physical Hex card, available from participating retailers.

Councillor Tony Gillard, Portfolio Holder for Business at North West Leicestershire District Council, said: "We're really excited to be offering these schemes to local businesses free of charge for a year through the government's Welcome Back Fund to help them get back on their feet.

"By offering a digital and an online option for customers at traditional bricks and mortar shops, our independent businesses can recover quicker and continue to grow.
