Leicestershire County Council is helping Foxes' fans get on the road to Wembley – by running lateral flow tests for those supporters with tickets for Saturday's FA Cup final.

Leicester City supporters from the Coalville area who are planning to go to Wembley can be tested at the North West Leicestershire testing centre at Swannington Village Hall.

Anyone who is going to the showpiece match against Chelsea needs to book an appointment for a rapid lateral flow test.

The test needs to be carried out any time between 2.15pm today (Thursday, May 13) and departure time for the match on Saturday (15 May).

Home tests will not be sufficient to allow entry to the stadium.

Mike Sandys, the county council's director of public health, said: "One in three people who have coronavirus show no symptoms, and rapid lateral flow testing, led by our public health team, can help to quickly identify individuals and stop the spread of infection.

"After a wait of more than 50 years, I wish Leicester City all the best for Saturday and let's hope they lift the trophy.

"There's just one final step for fans to secure their spot at Wembley – and that's a negative lateral flow test.

"We've made additional slots available and are working with the city council to make sure fans have easy access to a test."

Those needing to get a lateral flow test for the final need to have already been allocated a ticket for the match and must not have symptoms of Covid-19, which can include a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.

Anyone with symptoms will not be allowed to attend the match and will need to book a PCR test through the NHS website or by calling 119.

Community tests are available in Wigston, Blaby, Loughborough, Hinckley, Melton Mowbray and Market Harborough, as well as Swannington, – or at one of the six city council venues.

Appointments are per person and must be booked. Tests are self-administered.
