Domino's Pizza has said it would like to open a branch in Ashby.

The American multinational pizza restaurant chain has over 1,000 outlets in the UK.

Now Domino's has expressed an interest in moving into Ashby.

The company would not give full details of its plans - but admitted the town was somewhere it would like to be.

There have been suggestions that Domino's could move into the site vacated by Santander Bank, whose Market Street branch closed last month.

When this was put to the company, Domino's would not confirm any plans.

A spokeswoman for Domino's said: "Ashby de la Zouch is a town we'd like to be located in.

"At this stage it's too early to confirm any further details."

Domino's already has outlets in Swadlincote, Coalville and Castle Donington.
