Senior Planning Policy Officer (part-time)
North West Leicestershire District Council is a busy council, working across our communities to help people and businesses thrive. We're looking for a part-time Senior Planning Policy Officer to join our Planning Policy and Land Charges team.
About the role: You will be part of a team of five planning officers responsible for preparing the Council's new Local Plan which we are looking to submit in 2026. In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with local communities on the preparation of Neighbourhood Plans and the monitoring of S106 Agreements.
The job will involve visits to sites across the district and to external meetings, some of which will be in person. Therefore, you must have a driving licence and access to your own transport.
Our ideal candidate: You will be educated to degree level, ideally with a qualification in town and country planning, and be a member of, or eligible for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute. You will have an up-to-date knowledge of planning legislation and guidance and experience of working in a planning environment.
This role would suit somebody who has gained some experience and is now looking to expand their knowledge and experience. You will be confident, organised and self-motivated with a professional, analytical and pragmatic approach to problem solving. Your effective communication skills, both written and verbal, make it easy for you to confidently communicate and explain complex issues and develop relationships with a variety of external partners, organisations, residents and colleagues.
• 29 hrs per week with an annual salary of £34,166 - £36,574 (including market supplement enhancement) (Full-time equivalent £42,708 - £45,718pa)
