Homelessness Case Officer (Part-time, temporary contract for 12 months)

North West Leicestershire District Council is a busy council, working across our communities to help people and businesses thrive. We're looking for a Homelessness Case Officer to join our Housing Choices Team.

It is an exciting time for the team as we are the lead authority for an 8 authority rough sleeping initiative bid and we are in the process of implementing a new IT system for our homelessness case management. Currently we are seeing an increase in demand for our services from a range of customers finding themselves in a difficult situation and we need to ensure we have the right level of staff to meet the needs of these customers.

About the role

Our Homelessness Case Officer will work with customers who are homeless or threatened with homelessness to help them find housing solutions that meet their needs. This must be done whilst ensuring that the council fulfils its obligations under homelessness legislation.

Our ideal candidate

The person in this role will be a customer focused, empathetic person able to quickly build and maintain rapport with our customers.

You are also expected to have understanding and experience of working under part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 and Homeless Reduction Act 2017.

• 18 hours hrs per week with an annual salary of £15,044- £16,855 (pro rata to length of contract) (Full-time equivalent £30,296 - £33,945pa) (Pay award pending)

• Agile working scheme with a combination of home and office working

• 122 hours of holiday per year (including bank holidays) increasing to 137 hours after 5 years (pro rata to length of contract)
