We are currently seeking reliable and enthusiastic Secondary Cover Supervisors to work across a variety of secondary schools in Derby and surrounding areas. This flexible role is perfect for individuals looking for full-time or part-time work, with immediate and September start dates available.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for delivering pre-set lessons in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Your role is to ensure a positive and productive learning environment while maintaining classroom behaviour and supporting students as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise classes during short-term teacher absences

  • Ensure students remain on task with the work set

  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies

  • Provide support to students where appropriate

  • Report back on student progress and behaviour to teaching staff

The Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience working with young people (e.g. in a school, youth work, coaching, or similar role)

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • Ability to manage classroom behaviour confidently

  • A flexible and proactive approach to work

  • A genuine interest in education and supporting students' development

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Experienced cover supervisor you will:

  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or similar role
  • A confident, professional and adaptable approach
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • A passion for supporting young people in education
  • A valid DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or similar role
