Ashby's Hood Park Leisure Centre is backing the petition to keep gyms open during the second lockdown - and is pushing to be recognised as an 'essential service' amid month-long closures.
Hood Park and Whitwick's Hermitage Leisure Centre, managed by sports and leisure operator Everyone Active, were forced to close for a prolonged period starting in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A fundraiser has been set up for the Ashby woman whose house was hit by fire yesterday (Thursday).
The property in Ridgway Road was badly damaged in the blaze - with the roof almost completely burned out.

Ashby will stage an online Remembrance Day service this Sunday with the traditional Market Street parade cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The usual commemorations cannot go ahead this year which means Ashby's memorial was called off last month.

Fire crews from five stations were called out to a 'large' blaze at Ridgway Road in Ashby this afternoon - with people still believed to be in the building according to Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service.
The fire also spread to another house with two buildings ablaze and our photos show the damage that was caused to both properties.
North West Leicestershire Police are investigating a report of hare coursing in Snarestone.
The incident is believed to have happened in the area of Appleby Lane on Monday (Nov 2) at around 3pm.

Ashby's Tap at No.76 will be re-opening tomorrow (Friday) for the sale of takeaway beers - thanks partly to Tollgate Brewery customers lobbying their MPs.
A click and collect service will now be available with the Calke-based brewery's Managing Director Kevin Elliott saying his pubs will be selling beers 'like DIY stores sell paint'.
