Hood Park Leisure Centre is set to change its name to Ashby Leisure Centre & Lido – raising the profile of the town and the development of its sports facilities.
A day-long programme of events will be held on Saturday (July 10) to celebrate the change of name, the £1.2million redevelopment of the site and the launch of the Ashby-by-the-Sea brand, which relates to the lido element of the centre.

MP Andrew Bridgen has given his support to Ashby Sport Fun Day and says it should become an annual event.
Ashby Sport - formed only a few months ago - held its first Fun Day at the Bath Grounds and attracted a large number of sports clubs in the area, all inviting the public to 'come and have a go'.

Officers from North West Leicestershire District Council say they are continuing to work with the owners of the Royal Hotel in Ashby to secure the long term future of the Grade II* listed building.
The hotel closed in March 2018 due to financial pressures and the need for investment to bring the building up to modern standards.
