Football clubs in and around Ashby will be able to start playing again from next Monday after the FA confirmed today (Wednesday) that 'organised outdoor games' can take place.

Local clubs in the area can stage competitive fixtures although the Midland League, which contains Ashby Ivanhoe FC, had already decided to end its season during the latest lockdown.

Derbyshire's police chief has made reference to the two 'famous ladies' from Ashby after being asked about how many Covid fines had been rescinded by his force.

In January, Jessica Allen and Eliza Moore were landed with £200 penalties for their five mile trip to Foremark Reservoir in South Derbyshire and told their takeaway coffees were considered 'a picnic'.
