Horse riding arena to be built at farm in village near Ashby - on the site of last year's arson attack

Plans to build an indoor equestrian arena at a farm Packington have been approved by North West Leicestershire District Council.

The scheme, at Hill Farm on Spring Lane, follows an arson attack on a barn on the site last year.

Ashby's Venture Theatre is staging a production of classic whodunnit The unexpected Guest by Agatha Christie at the end of September and into October.

It is the first production at the North Street-based venue since February 2019.

Ashby de la Zouch Town Council has confirmed the return of the annual Statues fair next month.

Ashby: Families warned to beware rise in Covid infections as children make their return to classroom

Families are being urged to be cautious because of high rates of coronavirus among young people as schools in Ashby and Leicestershire made their return for the new term this week.

Classes have resumed after the summer holidays this week - but public health officials at Leicestershire County Council are concerned that the infection rate among 11 to 16 year-olds in the county is now 582.8 cases per 100,000 people.
