A Moira woman was arrested after assaulting police officers and being suspected of an assault on an emergency worker on Sunday evening - following reports of a party that went against Coronavirus social distancing guidelines.

Police were called out to Elm Grove in Moira.

But a 37-year-old woman then became abusive towards officers before assaulting them.

Police then say the woman was placed in custody for a suspected assault on an emergency worker.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: "Officers received a call on Sunday evening (29 March) to a report of a suspected gathering in contravention of current Coronavirus social distancing guidelines at an address in Elm Grove, Moira.

"Police attended the address shortly after 7pm and a woman at the location became abusive to officers as well as assaulting them. No officer was injured.

"A 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and remains in police custody."
