Blackfordby beauty therapist Sarah Byrd is preparing to return to her job after setting up a grocery shop in a horsebox during the 2020 lockdown.

Ashby Nub News reported on the progress of Sarah's pop-up venture last year.

Now Sarah has told BBC East Midlands that she has closed the horse-box shop and returned to the salon - which she was unable to do during lockdown.

Sarah said: "I feel like it's served a purpose - it's helped the community.

"People feel safer going to the supermarkets so I just think it's time to call it a day.

"I thought I could put the horsebox and myself to use and maybe help some local residents by supplying their daily essentials."

Sarah said she had the business operating within a week of having the idea and, after starting off in Blackfordby, she then expanded to Hartshorne and Netherseal.

She added: "In the beginning, there were shortages of flour and obviously everyone was baking.

"I managed to source flour in bulk from a local bakery and I'd have people queuing up the streets.

"One of the nicest things about it was it bought communities together - some of the elderly people and people who were isolating hadn't seen people for months."
