Ashby de la Zouch Town Council says Queen Elizabeth II was a 'source of inspiration'

Ashby de la Zouch Town Council has issued an official statement following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
It is from the current Ashby Mayor Cllr John Deakin.
It reads: "It is with heartfelt sorrow that the people of Ashby de la Zouch learned of the death of Her Majesty The Queen.
"Her Majesty dedicated her life to the service of this country and the Commonwealth and we are grateful for that service.
"She has been a source of inspiration and a role model for life in public service for many years.
"We sincerely wish that expressions of deep esteem and gratitude of our nation, for a life so unselfishly given, may act as great comfort and consolation to the Royal Family at this time.
"The Union Flag will be flown at half-mast during the period of public mourning .
"Members of the public are welcome to lay floral tributes in the War Memorial Garden of Remembrance on Brook Street.
"A book of condolence has been opened in the Council Chamber, Legion House on South Street, to enable the townspeople to express their sympathy at this time.
"This is available between the hours of 8.30am to 1.00pm Monday to Friday."
