The incident happened on Wednesday evening at the Westfield Estate and police cordoned Abbey Drive off so that the rider could be treated by emergency services.

A Leicestershire Police statement said: "We were called at 6.20pm yesterday (Wednesday) to a report of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle, a motorcycle, in Abbey Drive, Ashby.

"Officers attended the scene.

"The motorcyclist was taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre for treatment.

"He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

"The road was temporarily closed between the junctions of Abbey Close and Abbey Drive to allow emergency services to deal with the incident."

This is the second accident to happen in the same area in just over a fortnight.

This latest incident is set to raise concerns from residents over the safety of the road which already has speed calming measures in a busy housing estate.
