Phase Two of Donisthorpe's Rainbow Benches scheme has now been completed in the village.

Thanks to a grant of £386 from The Donisthorpe Community Group, members of The Orchard Allotment Society, friends and community group members have planted six rose bushes against the wall of the entrance to soften the appearance of the brick wall, along with two Pandora Cherry Trees.

The grassed areas have been sown with wildflower seeds with the exception of the area directly in front of the benches which has been sown with regular grass seed.

A spokesman for the scheme said: "Over the next few years as this area matures, it will make a lovely place to sit, relax and reflect on the time around the pandemic and hopefully give comfort to those that have lost loved ones."

This is how we reported on phase one of the scheme earlier this year: Donisthorpe residents raise money for rainbow bench.
