Ashby Arts Festival Announces 'Creative Weekender' Event

Ashby Arts Festival is staging a Creative Weekender event later this month - and organisers want you to be part of it.

The festival is normally held in May but had to be cancelled this year due to the coronavirus lockdown.

But now an online event has been set up for the August Bank Holiday, 29th-31st.

Ashby Arts Festival is a voluntary organisation that promotes all art forms in and around Ashby de la Zouch through organising an annual festival.

Under normal circumstances, locations around the town host exhibitions, musical performances, workshops and talks.

But now organisers want to showcase the town’s creativity online.

A post on the festival’s Facebook page reads: “Do you have an event or workshop that could be showcased as part of our Ashby Arts Festival – Creative Weekender?

“This August Bank Holiday weekend Ashby Arts Festival will be giving you the chance to takeover our online platforms to showcase your work.

“Are you a local artist, musician, songwriter, poet, performer or storyteller? Then this is for you! Do you have a video or collection of work that could be showcased on our social media pages? Then this is for you!

“Ashby Arts Festival links amateurs and professionals, the commercial and the public sectors together through public displays of drama performances, street theatre, music, poetry, workshops, arts and photography. So come along and get involved!

“What are we looking for? This could be music, drama, visual arts, crafts, dance, storytelling, street theatre, exhibitions, film or anything! We are open to ideas!

“Events are aimed at all ages and all abilities, so we would welcome performances, workshops or other events that could fit in to our programme of community arts work and be shown online.

“We are unable to offer any subsidy for this but we can offer you a large online audience with whom to share your work.

“If you have an idea that you think would be perfect for the Creative Weekender or would like more information then please message the page.”
