ABOUT THE ROLE
We have an exciting opening for a Trainee Solicitor to join our firm working from the Ashby-de-la-Zouch office from March 2025. We are seeking candidates who have completed the Legal Practice Course and require a training seat in order to qualify as a Solicitor. The 2 year training period will have a particular focus on Dispute Resolution, and will also include seats in commercial property, conveyancing, and Wills & Probate.
Candidates will have strong commercial awareness skills and will be self-motivated. The role is full-time at 35 hours per week, working 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday in the office.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
· Handling basic cases/files under the supervision of the relevant head of department.
· Interacting with clients on a daily basis, ensuring that all work is progressed in a timely manner and that the client is kept informed throughout, delivering exceptional customer service.
· Attending chambers appointments/sitting behind counsel where appropriate.
· Assisting Heads of Departments on major cases.
· Undertake support work for Directors, and fee earners, including research tasks.
· Complying with all file and case management quality standards in accordance with the Law Society requirements.
· Assisting the Head of Department with any other relevant duties as and when required, and working together to promote the department as a whole.
· Building upon the firm's reputation to attract key clients and assist with the firm's marketing initiatives.
· Networking with other professionals and contacts, both individually and as part of a team.
· Diligent and accurate use of the firms Case Management System.
· Undertaking any relevant training as and when required, and to comply with the Law Society CPD requirements.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Interested applicants should:
· Have undertaken a law degree and completed the legal practice course
· A high level of attention to detail
· Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written)
· Show initiative whilst working under supervision
· Experience in a law firm is preferred but not essential
