This is an exciting opportunity to lead a small independent school for children with special needs.

As this is a new school, with the opening date to be confirmed, there are many opportunities for the new headteacher to make a positive contribution to the development of the curriculum.

The role will require the successful candidate to have a good track record of successful leadership and management within a special school or similar setting, with experience in implementing effective strategies to support students with diverse special educational needs.

The school's Headteacher will need to be flexible and receptive to new ideas and new ways of working to support the school's novel approach to timetabling, lesson planning and student assessment.

The successful candidate will have experience in leading and motivating teams of educators and support staff, promoting a collaborative and inclusive working environment.

There will be a requirement to teach some timetabled lessons for a small part of the week.

Closing Date: 27th October 2024 Huntingdon House School is a very small, independent school for students with special educational needs, funded by nearby Local Authorities. We are located in a beautiful building in the centre of Ashby de la Zouch and, when we open, will provide for a maximum of 10 students. Students, aged 11-16 years, will likely demonstrate learning difficulties, language and communication difficulties and/or Autism.

All students will have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP). Despite their age, students will mostly be working within the National Curriculum at Key Stages 1 and 2 (Primary Curriculum).

We will strongly promote the students' independence, well-being and 'ownership' of their learning. Through a personalised curricular learning experience, students will be encouraged to make good progress, develop confidence and learn to apply their knowledge and skills in the real world outside school.
