A mother and her daughter were the victims of an assault in Ashby town centre - and Leicestershire Police are appealing for public help to find the man responsible.

The 38 and 18-year-old victims were in an alleyway off Market Street when they were approached by a man who started to shout and scream at them.

He then assaulted the 18-year-old victim - the 38-year-old victim then confronted the suspect and she too was punched in the face.

Both victims sustained facial injuries including a broken tooth, black eye, cut to the lip and bruising, but they did.not require hospital treatment.

The incident was reported just after 2.50am today (Sunday 10 October).

It also says that a third woman claims to have been assaulted by the same man in a separate incident.

The suspect has been described as an Asian man, 5ft 10ins tall, aged between 25-30 years-old, with a goatee beard.

He was wearing a black T-shirt and black jeans.
