This dramatic picture shows how a car ended up after an incident just before the M42 junction near Measham on Saturday.

Leicestershire Roads Policing Unit tweeted that, despite the seriousness of the crash, the driver escorted with relatively minor injuries.

And once the wreckage had been moved, traffic was able to move freely - with the vehicle ending up on its roof.

The Leicestershire Roads Policing Unit tweet read: "How's your day been?

"Hopefully better than this driver on the M42 prior to J11 who fortunately escaped this road traffic collision with only minor injuries yesterday.

"#RPU dragged it out of the carriageway to keep the road moving."
