Increase In Latest North West Leicestershire Coronavirus Cases

There has been a further rise in the number of daily cases of coronavirus in North West Leicestershire.

A further 33 have been recorded over the past 24 hours.

It means the rate per 100,000 population in the district is now 898.

Leicester has seen its biggest daily increase in new coronavirus cases today (Thursday October 29).

More than 550 cases have been reported in the city and county in the past 24 hours – 213 of them were in Leicester.

Previously the most cases recorded in one day was 185.

Charnwood had added a further 133 cases to its rolling toll today, and it has now been announced it will be joining Leicester, Oadby and Wigston in tier 2.

Blaby has recorded a further 58 cases as the area's MP warned that the district is seeing another spike.

There have also been another 43 new infections detected in Hinckley and Bosworth and 34 in Harborough.

And North West Leicestershire's cumulative toll went up by 33, Oadby and Wigston's by 29 and Melton had 13 new cases confirmed.

The local cumulative (since the start of the pandemic) figures are:

Leicester: 10,312 total cases. Rate per 100,000 population: 2,911

Blaby: 1,541 total cases. Rate per 100,000 population: 1,517

Charnwood: 3,406 total cases. Rate per 100,000 population: 1,832

Harborough: 1,022 total cases. Rate per 100,000 population: 1,089

Hinckley and Bosworth: 1,304 total cases. Rate per 100,000 population: 1,152

Melton: 511 total cases. Rate per 100,000 population: 997

North West Leicestershire: 931 total cases. Rate per 100,000 population: 898

Oadby and Wigston: 1,317 total cases. Rate per 100,000 population: 2,309

Rutland: 318 total cases. Rate per 100,000 population: 796
