A revised list of road works affecting Ashby has been issued by Leicestershire County Council - including an update on the state of Derby Road.

After work on a gas installation was completed at the weekend, the road was re-opened.

However, a number of local residents took to social media to complain about the rough road surface.

Now, work has resumed on the road outside Ashby Co-op with a temporary one-way system in place.

This was set up today (Wednesday) and is expected to last for around three days or until the work is complete.

It means traffic can only move in one direction from Market Street to the Elford Street and Burton Road mini roundabout.

That has had a knock on effect for the planned road works on Smisby Road which will now start on Monday (November 2) until the following Sunday - affecting The Callis to Willowbrook Close.

West and eastbound diversions will be from Smisby Road, A511, Nottingham Road, Wood Street, Market Street and The Callis.

There are also road works at Stretton en le Field along the A444 from the A42 Junction 11 to Measham Road, Acresford.

This starts on Friday and is expected to be completed on Sunday.

The County Council says marshals will be on site to advise residents and local businesses.
