Ashby company launching the Midlands' first state of the art Virtual Reality attraction that makes you feel as though 'you're in another world'

An Ashby company is offering the Midlands' best virtual reality experience after making a huge investment during lockdown.

Rebound Inflatable Park in Smisby Road has installed machines that will give you the feeling of riding a motorbike, riding a rollercoaster, driving an F1 car, being on a bridge over a huge drop or skiing down a mountain.

The company claims there is nothing like it in the area - with the only other facility available being at Rebound's other site in Milton Keynes - take a look at the video above to see what to expect.

Ashby's Rebound is already known across the country - with celebrities hiring it out, and Premier League footballers among their regular visitors.

But the installation of the VR machines is set to boost its popularity still further when the doors open on May 17.

Site manager Ben Sherriff says it is an exciting addition to what is a growing company.

And he says the differences are that it moves Rebound away from being a children's attraction known for its inflatable area.

He now feels that adults will want to come and experience the VR machines for themselves.

Covid restrictions will be in place until June 21, but Rebound is already busy taking bookings.

Among the machines are:

  • Rollercoaster
  • Motorbiking
  • The Bridge
  • Call of Duty
  • Ski-ing

Ben told Ashby Nub News: "It's all interactive - and really good fun. There's nothing like this in Midlands.

"We think it'll be hugely popular and we're getting a lot of phone calls about it.

"We have all our regular attractions and the rooms are all ready to go."

But while Virtual Reality has been around for some time, Ben explained what is new about Rebound's attractions - and how they plan to stay ahead of the trends.

He said: "These are state of the art machines that haven't been purchased by anyone in the country apart from us.

"We got them directly from China and they were developed in America.

"We're always behind America in terms of what they offer in terms of leisure.

"We look at the trends in the USA and we look at them to see what our next trend will be.

"After doing our research, we found that Virtual Reality is the future.

"Instead of playing Call of Duty on an X-Box, you can play it in a simulator and it feels real. After a while, it feels as though you are in that world.

"It's strange how it can play on your mind."

Rebound says half an hour will cost £15, and it will be £25 for one hour.

Parties of people can also join in, starting at £30 per person - but there will be restrictions until June 21.

But Rebound will not put a figure on how much it all cost to set up in Ashby - simply saying it's a 'big investment'.

Ben added: "We've seen the benefit of this in Milton Keynes, so they would't risk it in Ashby if they didn't think it was going to work.

"It adds to what we already have here.

"We've always done hen and stag dos, and corporate events, but this really does attract a different demographic.

"Virtual Reality is something everyone can do now, we'll attract a wider range of people now."

Ben says that Rebound is another example of a company doing well in Ashby.

Ashby venue turnover is close to £1million.

He added: "This company listens to demands and needs, and we give.

"We're very adaptable - we want to be the first in the country to have whatever is out there next.

"We want to be the trendmaker in the UK."

Rebound had intended to be up and running in September - but more Covid restrictions prevented that.

However, the company has used the lockdown months to make sure that everything is even better prepared that it would have been last year.

Ben added: "It bought us a little more time to focus on the nooks and the crannies, but that's the only positive thing about the lockdown."

Rebound has recently completed a deal to stay at the Smisby Road site for another four years.

Ben added: "We're in a great position here, close to the motorways and central to the rest of the country."
