CNC Turner Location: Castle Donnington, DE74 Pay Rate: £17.69 per hour Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Flexitime available - start between 7:00am and 8:30am Mon-Thurs, 6-hour shift on Fridays) We're working with a leading precision engineering company in Castle Donington to recruit an experienced CNC Turner to join their production team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist who takes pride in producing high-quality, precision-engineered components and enjoys working within a supportive and forward-thinking environment. The Role As a CNC Turner, you'll be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC turn-mill machines and manual XYZ lathes to produce parts that meet strict engineering specifications. You'll take ownership of the full machining process from interpreting technical drawings to final inspection ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and consistency throughout. Key Responsibilities
  • Create, test, and optimise CNC programs for precision component manufacture - Set up and operate CNC machinery, selecting tools, speeds, and feeds for best performance - Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and CAD models - Conduct first-off and in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment - Identify and resolve machining or tooling issues to maintain production quality - Work closely with engineering and quality teams to continuously improve processes - Maintain machinery and ensure a safe, organised workspace in line with H&S standards - Support lean manufacturing initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement
About You
  • Experienced CNC Turner with strong background in setting and operating turn-mill machines - Proficient with Siemens machine controls and ideally CAM software such as Fusion - Skilled in manual XYZ lathe operation - Sound understanding of machining aluminium, stainless steel, plastics, and other materials - Strong attention to detail with a methodical, problem-solving mindset - Confident communicator with excellent organisational and time management skills - Relevant qualification such as a time-served Apprenticeship, HNC or HND in Engineering
